Governor Thomas Johnson Safe and Sane Meeting - March 5, 2008

 

Members present: Lise O’Connell, Jim Bass, Theresa Hentgen, Liz Foit, Ann Duncan, Diane Bill, Lisa Schatz, Cyndy Pinciotti, Renee Thornton, Kerri Hesley, Tim Gibian, Audrey Smith, Karyn Conway, Debbie Doll, Michelle & Steven Hunt, and Brian McGraw.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Actual income thus far: $20,230.60; Disbursements: $5,509.55; Goal: $32,629.00

 

Fundraising

Ø      Ila Stitely will coordinate the Cookie Lee Jewelry sale in which 20% of the proceeds will go to Safe and Sane. She will also do catalog orders.

Ø      The Faculty basketball game scheduled for March 12 is in full swing. Teams have been formed for both staff and students including Pom Pom squads. Cost of admission is $5.00 Volunteers will run concessions, sell tickets at the door announce the game, and run the clock.. Additional volunteers have been found to ref the game. The refs will be paid a $50.00 stipend for their volunteer efforts by the Athletic Boosters. Additionally, cheerleaders will distribute out 10 T.J. T-shirts throughout the crowd to get everyone pumped for the game.

Ø      No additional Eat-In’s will be scheduled the remainder of the year.

Ø      Bowl-A-Thon – A huge thank you to Sue Bloom who did a phenomenal job with the Bowl-A-Thon!  We made $2,500.00 and had an excellent turn out.

Ø      The Dinner Dance and Silent Auction will be held on April 18 at Dutch’s Daughter. Social hour 7-8, buffet 8-9, and dance 9-11. There is room for 160. Key contacts for delivering tickets will be: Ila Stitely and Michele O’Connor: Willow Brook & Christopher’s Crossing, Karen Conway: Spring Ridge and Lynne Omelchenko: Cloverhill. Some Silent Auction items have been secured, however other donations are still being solicited. Tim Gibian discussed bundling items to make them more enticing. Anyone with possible prospects for donations are asked to solicit those prospects. Tim is currently looking for someone with a house at Deep Creek and the beach. Some of the items currently secured for the auction are: A plane ride, Team Link River Trip, Yoga class, 2 Redskins tickets, Men’s clothing certificate, Trail House certificate, Museum Shop certificate, Golf, and Hobby Town certificate.

Ø      Send a Star  to a senior at Safe and Sane will be coordinated by Ann Duncan. The stars will be sold for $1.00 at the PTSA Awards Ceremony on 4/21, Senior Awards Ceremony on 5/29 and Baccalaureate on 6/1. The Send a Star program is a way for family members & friends to send a farewell message to their senior and have it posted at Safe & Sane. Goody Bags- There was discussion on whether to buy the draw-string bags to be given out to seniors. A vote was taken and it was decided that they would be bought for each senior. The  Jessica Murphy foundation will donate towels with Safe and Sane logo and key chains for each senior. Other items will be added as donated or money is available.

Western Wear- Anyone who has western wear to lend for Staff Photo Shoot contact Lise.

March 12 is the newsletter deadline.
